Dr Hans Heinrich Coninx
Dr Hans Heinrich Coninx (*1945) is the founder and President of the Orpheum Foundation for the Advancement of Young Soloists. His activities on the cultural scene also include having been Chairman of the Board of the Zurich Chamber Orchestra from 1998 to 2009. He also chaired the University Council of the Zurich University of Music and Theatre until it was subsumed into the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). Hans Heinrich Coninx initially studied flute and cello at the Zurich Conservatory, but then moved to the universities of Zurich and St Gallen to study history, journalism, business management and information sciences. He took his doctorate in history. From 1987 to 2007 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tamedia AG, having already belonged to the Board and the company’s top management since 1978. He was the Chairman of the Swiss Press Association from 1992 to 2003, and has been its Honorary President since 2003. In 2003 he also assumed the post of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Swiss News Agency (Schweizerische Depeschenagentur AG), from which he stepped down in April 2018.
